A shocking incident unfolded in Nairobi’s Makadara Law Courts.

A senior police inspector, Samson Kipchirchir Kipruto, fatally shot Magistrate Monica Kivuti after she denied bail to a suspect, reportedly Kipruto’s wife, who had previously absconded court appearances.

Magistrate Kivuti is injured but receiving medical attention. In the ensuing chaos, other officers shot and killed Kipruto.

Three additional officers were also injured.

The motive and Kipruto’s presence in court remain under investigation. This unprecedented courtroom violence has shaken Kenyans.
