- Ayariga claims his administration and policies would be markedly different and better.
- Bawumia promises to be more accountable to Ghanaians if elected president.
Dr. Hassan Ayariga, founder and flagbearer of the All People’s Congress (APC), has expressed his opinion that both former President John Dramani Mahama and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia would perform poorly if elected president in the 2024 general elections.
Dr. Ayariga stated that former President Mahama would be “worse,” while Vice President Dr. Bawumia would be “disastrous” in office. He emphasized that his administration is what Ghanaians need, and his policies would be markedly different from those of the other two leaders.
Dr. Ayariga criticized Dr. Bawumia’s policy approach, which he believes could worsen the nation’s economic and social stability. He also criticized former President Mahama’s previous administration, stating that his return to power would only exacerbate existing issues.
Dr. Ayariga made these remarks at a press conference in Accra on Tuesday, where he stated, “Both of them becoming President—Mahama will be worse, Bawumia will be disastrous, and Hassan Ayariga will be better.” He emphasized that his policies would be totally different from what the other two leaders are doing.
The APC leader’s remarks highlight his party’s role as a pivotal voice calling for a new direction in Ghanaian politics. Whether Dr. Ayariga’s warnings will resonate with voters and influence the upcoming election remains uncertain.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the NPP, has stated that he will be more accountable to Ghanaians than his main contender, former President John Mahama, if elected as president during the December 7 polls.
