President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has embarked on a diplomatic journey to Seoul, Korea, at the behest of President Yoon Suk Yeol of the Republic of Korea. The President departed Ghana on Friday, May 31, 2024, to participate in the prestigious Korea-Africa Summit, slated for June 4-5, 2024.

Leading a high-powered Ghanaian delegation, President Akufo-Addo’s attendance at the summit underscores the significance of the event and the strengthening of bilateral ties between Ghana and Korea.

The President was accompanied by a formidable team, comprising Hon. Shirley Ayorkor Botchway, Minister for Foreign Affairs, and senior officials from the Foreign Ministry, Trade Ministry, and the Presidency.

During the two-day summit, President Akufo-Addo is expected to engage in fruitful discussions with his Korean counterpart and other African leaders, focusing on issues of mutual interest, economic cooperation, and development.

In the President’s absence, Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia will assume the reins of power, in accordance with Article 60(8) of the constitution, ensuring a seamless continuation of government business.
