In light of the forthcoming presidential and parliamentary elections scheduled for December 7, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has called for heightened vigilance to uphold democratic principles.
Speaking at the conclusion of his 25th anniversary celebrations since assuming the esteemed position of the 16th occupant of the Golden Stool, on Sunday, May 12, Otumfuo emphasized the critical need to maintain an environment conducive to informed decision-making among citizens, thus ensuring the nation’s collective well-being.
“As we approach the upcoming year, political fervor will once again sweep across the electoral landscape as leaders engage in extensive campaigning efforts. Reflecting on our past, it is our responsibility to safeguard the integrity of our democracy,” stated Otumfuo.
“However, we must remain alert, acknowledging that complacency is a luxury we cannot afford. It is essential to stay vigilant against any potential threats that may compromise the sanctity of the electoral process.”
