Residents of Twifo Cocoa Ase in the Twifo Ati-Morkwa District of the Central Region are on a desperate search for a 37-year-old man who allegedly plunged into the River Pra, presumably to end his own life.

Despite nearly 22 hours passing since the distressing incident occurred, community members’ attempts to find him have been fruitless.

The motives behind the tragic act remain unclear, with some speculating that the man, known as Kwame Adomakoh or Rasta, may have been driven to such extremes by heartbreak.

According to locals, it’s believed that his emotional state was profoundly affected after his girlfriend, with whom he arrived in the community, began seeing someone else.

The Adontenhene of Twifo Darmang, Nana Kwasi Badu, who led efforts to locate the victim, disclosed that he had sought refuge at the police station the night before, but authorities, seeing no legal grounds to detain him, declined his plea. Subsequently, he made the fatal decision to throw himself into the river around 8 PM.

Continuing the search, Mr. Daniel Afriyie, the Assemblyman for Cocoa Ase Electoral Area, acknowledged rumors linking the tragedy to heartbreak.

However, he emphasized the ongoing investigation and the deployment of divers to scour the river for any signs of the missing man.
