President Akufo-Addo has relieved Dr. John Ofori-Tenkorang of his duties as Director-General of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), effective from Monday, April 15, 2024.
In a letter dated April 8, 2024, signed by the Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante, Dr. Ofori-Tenkorang was directed to hand over responsibilities to one of his deputies, Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo, promptly.
Citing the termination of Dr. Ofori-Tenkorang’s appointment in accordance with his 2019 appointment letter, the letter instructed him to cease acting as Director-General by the close of business on April 15, 2024. The President expressed gratitude for Dr. Ofori-Tenkorang’s service and wished him well.
The new Director-General, Kofi Bosompem Osafo-Maafo, is the son of President Akufo-Addo’s Senior Advisor, Yaw Osafo-Maafo.
