The Electoral Commission (EC) has slated April 30, 2024, for the by-election in Ejisu following the passing of MP John Kumah on March 7, 2024.
John Kumah, aged 46, succumbed to a brief illness, leaving behind a wife and six children.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has set April 13, 2024, for its parliamentary primary, with nine candidates cleared to compete after a vetting session on April 6, 2024.
NPP nominations opened on April 2, 2024, with all nine candidates submitting their applications before the closure on April 4.
The opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is yet to announce its primary date.
The EC has established the filing fee for the election at GHC10,000, and nominations will be accepted from aspiring candidates between April 16 and April 18, 2024.
Interested candidates can procure nomination forms from the EC’s official website, starting from April 9, 2024.
