Spanish powerhouse Barcelona, along with other top European clubs, is battling for the signature of Dutch international and Bayer 04 Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong.
The talented right wing-back has become one of the most sought-after players following his impressive performances for both club and country since joining Leverkusen.
Frimpong’s contract with Leverkusen runs until 2028, but a release clause of around 40 million euros could pave the way for his exit this summer.
His standout performances haven’t gone unnoticed. In the 2023-2024 Bundesliga season, Frimpong netted nine goals in 31 league appearances, playing a vital role in Leverkusen’s historic unbeaten title challenge.
This season, he has continued to impress, contributing four goals in 24 league matches, with his latest performance featuring a match-winning assist and an opening goal in a 3-1 comeback win over VfB Stuttgart in the Bundesliga.
Reports from across Europe indicate that both Barcelona and their rivals Real Madrid are eager to secure the 24-year-old’s services as they look to bolster their squads for next season.
English giants Manchester United and Liverpool have also expressed interest in the 24-year-old, who is widely regarded as one of the best in his position.
