A 38-year-old registered sex offender, Calese Carron Crowder, was arrested last Tuesday in Burbank, California, after he allegedly sniffed a woman’s buttocks at a department store.
Police responded to reports of a suspicious man seen loitering in the women’s section of a Nordstrom Rack at the Burbank Empire Center. By the time officers arrived, the suspect had already left the scene.
After searching the surrounding area, officers located Crowder inside a nearby Walmart.
According to investigators, surveillance footage from Nordstrom Rack shows Crowder crouching behind a woman and sniffing her. He has since been charged with one count of loitering with intent to commit a crime.
Authorities confirmed that Crowder is a registered sex offender currently on parole, with a history of arrests for lewd conduct dating back to 2021.
One of his alleged past victims, Michaela Witter, had previously posted a video on TikTok showing Crowder allegedly sniffing her while she was browsing at a Barnes & Noble in Burbank.
Witter expressed frustration over the repeated incidents:
“I feel like the justice system is just neglecting everything. It’s crazy to think that someone like this, who’s constantly stalking and violating people, is allowed to be out and about.”
Crowder is currently held on $100,000 bail and is expected to appear in court on Friday.
