NADMO–Environmental Health partnership in Ahafo

- NADMO partners with the Environmental Health Department to boost sanitation in Ahafo
- Director Gabriel Adu Bonsu laments rising littering despite routine cleanups
- Traders near drains warned to keep gutters clean or face prosecution
The Ahafo Regional Director of the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), Gabriel Adu Bonsu, has announced a new collaboration with the Environmental Health Department to enhance sanitation efforts across the region.
In an interview with Adom News in Kenyasi, Mr. Adu Bonsu raised concerns about the growing habit of residents littering streets and gutters despite ongoing cleanup activities. He cautioned that the situation poses serious environmental and health risks and must be tackled collectively.
He further warned traders operating near gutters to ensure that drains remain clean at all times, adding that anyone found contributing to poor sanitation will be prosecuted by NADMO and the Environmental Health Department.
Mr. Adu Bonsu also appealed to assembly members and traditional authorities to stop intervening on behalf of offenders, stating that such interference weakens sanitation enforcement.
He stressed that going forward, NADMO and the Environmental Health Department will not accept excuses or pleas from sanitation violators, as strict measures will be enforced to restore proper hygiene standards in the region.
