The Central Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 14 individuals in connection with a recent chieftaincy-related clash in Agona Abodom.

Among those arrested is the suspected ringleader, Akwesi Asare. All suspects have been transferred to the National Police Headquarters in Accra to support ongoing investigations.

The violent incident took place during the Akwanbo Festival on Friday, resulting in four deaths and multiple injuries. The clashes reportedly involved land guards and members of the Fomo Abodom community.

Deputy Public Relations Officer of the Central Regional Police Command, Chief Inspector Isaac Entie, told Adom News that five injured persons have been treated and discharged, while three others remain hospitalized.

Police have since deployed officers to the area to restore calm and ensure public safety.

Agona Abodom, a farming community, has endured chieftaincy disputes for over four decades, only installing a new chief earlier this year.
