Wontumi Denies MASLOC Vehicle Claims

Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi-Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has refuted allegations that government vehicles from the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC) were retrieved from his residence.

Speaking on Adom FM’s Dwaso Nsem morning show, Wontumi dismissed the claims as false and challenged accusers to produce proof.

“It is not true that MASLOC vehicles were taken from me. These are complete lies. If I was indeed the one who took the vehicles, let them bring evidence and documentation,” he stated.

On September 11, MASLOC CEO Abigail Elorm Mensah revealed that three government vehicles were recovered from Wontumi’s residence with assistance from National Security personnel, as part of efforts to reclaim assets from defaulters.

Chairman Wontumi clarified that a former occupant of his house had left behind a vehicle, and he had no involvement in its removal.

“I received a call that a task force was outside, but the house was locked. I gave them access. The person who lived there had already left and left the car behind. But instead of taking that, they ended up towing my Land Cruiser,” he explained.

He also cast doubt on the reports, asking:

“Does MASLOC even give out Land Cruisers? We are still addressing the issue.”

Wontumi insists the entire episode is an attempt to smear his reputation and maintains that the allegations are without merit.
