Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has met with the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt, H.E. Wael Fathy Ahmed, in what she described as a constructive and forward-looking conversation focused on strengthening cooperation between the two nations.

The meeting underscored the longstanding and historic ties between Ghana and Egypt, offering an opportunity to reaffirm their shared commitment to deepening bilateral relations across key sectors. The Vice President assured the Ambassador of the government’s full support, stating, “Ghana remains committed to working closely with Egypt to broaden the scope of our cooperation and deliver tangible benefits to our people.”

She also expressed appreciation to the Government and people of Egypt for the warm reception extended to President John Dramani Mahama during his recent visit to Cairo for the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM). Professor Opoku-Agyemang praised the museum’s global significance, noting that it stands as “not only a monumental achievement for Egypt but a cultural treasure for the world.”

Discussions between the two leaders highlighted shared values of unity, mutual respect, and collaboration in addressing global challenges. With both countries boasting vibrant and growing youth populations, the Vice President stressed the need to empower young people, saying, “Our young people hold immense promise, and it is our duty to create pathways for skills development, innovation, and meaningful opportunity.”

Ambassador Wael Fathy Ahmed reaffirmed Egypt’s appreciation of its longstanding friendship with Ghana and pledged to work toward enhancing cooperation. “Egypt values its partnership with Ghana and looks forward to expanding collaboration in areas that will drive progress for both countries,” he said.

In the face of evolving global dynamics, Professor Opoku-Agyemang highlighted the importance of forging stronger partnerships in training, technology, and knowledge exchange. “The world is changing rapidly, and our collaboration must reflect the pace of transformation,” she remarked. “By bridging knowledge gaps and promoting shared learning, we can unlock new avenues of growth.”

The meeting ended with both sides expressing renewed confidence in the future of Ghana–Egypt relations and a shared determination to pursue peace, development, and prosperity for their nations.
