U.S. Marshals Arrest Former Ghanaian Public Official

- Former MASLOC CEO Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu arrested in the United States
- Arrest follows Ghana’s extradition request filed in July 2024
- Case has entered the judicial phase of the extradition process
Former Chief Executive Officer of the Microfinance and Small Loans Centre (MASLOC), Sedina Tamakloe-Attionu, has been arrested in the United States and is currently in custody following action on an extradition request filed by the Government of Ghana.
In a statement issued by Victor Emmanuel Smith, it was confirmed that Tamakloe-Attionu is being detained at the Southern Desert Correctional Centre in Pahrump, Nevada.
According to the statement, she was arrested by U.S. Marshals on January 6 and has remained in custody since then. The arrest stems from an extradition request submitted by Ghanaian authorities to the United States in July 2024.
She is being held pending legal proceedings in the U.S., where a court will decide the next steps in the extradition process.
The arrest represents a major development in the case, which has drawn public interest due to the cooperation between Ghanaian and U.S. law enforcement agencies.
While details of the charges and the timeline for court hearings have not been made public, her detention signals that U.S. authorities have formally acted on Ghana’s extradition request and that the case has now entered the judicial phase.
