Professor Ransford Gyampo, Acting Chief Executive of the Ghana Shippers Authority, has formally demanded a retraction and public apology from Dr. George Domfeh over what he describes as a highly defamatory statement made on national television.
In a notice issued by his lawyers, Darko, Keli-Delataa & Company, Prof. Gyampo claims that during an appearance on TV3’s The Key Point on Saturday, November 15, 2025, Dr. Domfeh allegedly suggested that he “sleeps with under-age girls”—a remark the legal team says was widely perceived as an accusation of paedophilia.
The lawyers stated that what began as a policy and intellectual debate on the programme “turned acrimonious, insulting, and outright defamatory.”
They described the comment as “reckless, patently false, and malicious,” asserting that it portrays Prof. Gyampo as “hideously immoral and irresponsible.” The letter emphasizes that Dr. Domfeh had “no factual or legal basis” for making the allegation and points to the “considerable damage” done to Prof. Gyampo’s reputation, given the national broadcast of the statement.
The legal team has demanded that Dr. Domfeh issue a full retraction and apology within 24 hours, to be published on a media platform of similar reach to the original broadcast.
Failure to comply, the lawyers warn, will result in Prof. Gyampo pursuing legal action. Copies of the notice have also been sent to the producer of The Key Point at Media General.
