Nursing Mother Arrested For Alleged Attempt To Poison Child

The Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) of the Kasoa Divisional Police Command has arrested 24-year-old nursing mother Mary Tawiah for allegedly attempting to poison her child, reportedly in response to her boyfriend’s infidelity.

The boyfriend, Kobby Nbelenbele, is also in police custody and is assisting with ongoing investigations.

The incident occurred at the Kasoa Old Market in the Awutu Senya East Municipality of the Central Region.

According to reports from Adom News, Mary and Kobby reside in Teshie, but Kobby allegedly left her to be with another woman in Kasoa.

Mary is said to have confronted Kobby and the other woman at the Kasoa market, leading to a heated exchange.

Eyewitness Felix Dnkwa stated that during the confrontation, Mary threatened to poison their child. She allegedly pulled out a substance from her bag and attempted to feed it to the boy.

Bystanders quickly intervened, preventing the act and restraining Mary before handing her over to the police.
