Interior Minister Extends Curfew in Nkwanta and Surrounding Areas

Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak-Mohammed has extended the curfew on Nkwanta Township and nearby communities within the Nkwanta South Municipality of the Oti Region, effective Thursday, September 4, 2025.

The revised curfew hours are now from 6:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. each day. The decision follows recommendations from the Oti Regional Security Council and is being enforced under an Executive Instrument.

In an official statement, the Minister called on chiefs, community leaders, youth groups, and residents to remain calm and resolve ongoing issues through peaceful and non-violent means.

Meanwhile, the existing ban on the possession of firearms, ammunition, and other offensive weapons remains in effect.

Security officials have cautioned that violators of the weapons ban will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
