The Government of Indonesia has extended its deepest sympathies to the Government and people of Ghana, as well as to the bereaved families, following the tragic military helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, which claimed eight lives.
Among the deceased were key national figures: Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah; Environment Minister and MP, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed; Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Muniru Mohammed; Samuel Aboagye, a former NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Obuasi East; and Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the NDC and former Mayor of Kumasi.
Also killed were three members of the Ghana Air Force: Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
H.E. Paskal A. B. Rois, the Honorary Consul of Indonesia in Ghana, described the tragedy as a profound loss not only to Ghana but to the wider African continent and international partners like Indonesia.
“The passing of these distinguished individuals is not just a national loss for Ghana, but a great tragedy for Africa and for countries like Indonesia that maintain strong diplomatic and developmental ties with Ghana,” he stated in an official message on behalf of the Indonesian government.
He added that the heartbreaking event had “deeply shaken” the Indonesian diplomatic community, and paid tribute to the deceased for their service, dedication, and patriotism.
“As we offer our prayers and support, we reaffirm our unwavering solidarity with the Republic of Ghana and the affected families. May their souls rest in eternal peace,” the statement concluded.
