The Ministry of Roads and Highways has confirmed progress in investigations into the damage to the footbridge located between Fiesta Royale and Nogahill Hotel on the N1 Highway.

In a post dated February 8, Roads Minister Kwame Agbodza indicated that investigations are advancing, with the police engaging the vehicle’s owners, the Ministry of Roads and Highways, and other relevant agencies to determine the extent of the damage and outline the required repairs.

“We have made progress. The police are in contact with the owners of the vehicle, the Ministry of Roads and Highways, and other relevant stakeholders to move the investigation forward, assess the damage, and prescribe the necessary remedial works,” the minister stated.

He also commended the Minister for the Interior, the Inspector-General of Police, the Ghana Police Service, and members of the public who provided critical information to support the investigation.

This update follows an earlier statement issued on February 6, in which the Roads Minister called on the owner of the vehicle involved in the incident to cooperate fully with authorities.

“The beneficial owner of the vehicle responsible for the extensive damage to the footbridge between Fiesta Royale and Nogahill Hotel on the N1 Highway must immediately report to the police, assist with investigations, and take responsibility for the repairs,” he said.

Mr Agbodza stressed that swift action and accountability are essential to restoring the damaged infrastructure and preventing further inconvenience to motorists and pedestrians along the heavily trafficked N1 corridor.
