The Northern Regional Command of the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has intercepted and repatriated 55 undocumented foreign nationals following an intelligence-led operation.
According to an official statement signed by ACI Michael Amoako-Atta, Head of Public Affairs at the GIS, the individuals were victims of alleged fraudulent schemes and lacked the necessary immigration documentation.
The operation was carried out in response to a recent directive from the Comptroller-General of Immigration, Mr. Samuel Basintale Amadu, who instructed all Regional and Border Commanders to intensify efforts to combat cyber fraud and related immigration violations.
The statement detailed that a raid in a suburb of Tamale resulted in the rescue of 38 Burkinabé nationals linked to an alleged network marketing scheme known as NEOLIFE. Investigations revealed that none of them possessed valid travel documents.
A second operation in another Tamale suburb uncovered an additional 17 Burkinabés allegedly involved in a separate network marketing scheme, QNET. They too were found without valid immigration documents.
All 55 individuals have since been safely repatriated, the statement confirmed.
The Ghana Immigration Service reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the country’s borders while ensuring the safety and lawful treatment of all foreign nationals.
