Ghana, Togo Deepen Defence Intelligence Cooperation

A six-member delegation from the Defence Intelligence Unit of the Togolese Armed Forces has paid a working visit to Ghana’s Department of Defence Intelligence at Burma Camp, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation.

The visit, which took place on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, was intended to enhance intelligence sharing and deepen collaboration between the two armed forces, particularly in addressing emerging security threats within the sub-region. As part of the programme, the delegation paid a courtesy call on the Chief of Staff at the General Headquarters, Air Vice Marshal Joshua Lartei Mensah-Larkai.

During the engagement, AVM Mensah-Larkai welcomed the delegation and expressed appreciation for the visit, assuring them of the Ghana Armed Forces’ commitment to a fruitful engagement. He reaffirmed Ghana’s readiness to work closely with partner institutions through sustained intelligence cooperation to support both immediate operational requirements and long-term security partnerships.

Leading the Togolese delegation, Colonel Panakinao Ayawo, Director of Defence Intelligence of the Togolese Armed Forces, emphasized the importance of strengthened collaboration and information exchange, describing them as essential in confronting the rising threat of terrorism along West African borders.

The Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major General Stephen Woseadzikpo Kweku Parbey, said the visit would further build trust, enhance cooperation and reinforce bilateral relations between the armed forces of both countries. He noted that closer collaboration would allow the two intelligence units to pool expertise, align strategies and improve their collective effectiveness in promoting regional security and shared interests.
