Ghana Commissions First Compressed Natural Gas Facility

The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, Dr. John Abdulai Jinapor, has hailed the commissioning of Ghana’s first-ever Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) facility as a landmark achievement in the country’s energy transition journey.

In a social media post on Tuesday, January 27, Dr. Jinapor noted that he joined Tetracore Gas Ghana Limited to officially inaugurate the facility, describing it as a decisive step toward cleaner, more affordable, and reliable energy for Ghana.

The Minister highlighted that the CNG facility will help reduce the nation’s reliance on costly liquid fuels, while also supporting industrial growth and generating employment across the energy value chain.

Dr. Jinapor stressed that expanding access to natural gas is vital for enhancing energy security and lowering production costs for businesses.

He praised Tetracore Gas Ghana Limited for its vision and dedication, noting that the project exemplifies the positive role of private sector investment in strengthening Ghana’s energy infrastructure and advancing sustainability goals.

Reaffirming the Government’s commitment, Dr. Jinapor emphasized ongoing efforts to expand gas supply and improve energy infrastructure in line with President John Dramani Mahama’s Gas-to-Power Policy, which aims to harness Ghana’s gas resources to stimulate economic growth and accelerate the shift to cleaner energy.
