The Ghana Armed Forces and the Ghana Police Service have assured the public of heightened security measures to ensure a safe and peaceful festive season.
On Thursday, December 11, 2025, the two security agencies conducted a joint public display of arms and tactical equipment in Accra to demonstrate their readiness to maintain law and order before, during, and after the Christmas period.
Inspector General of Police Christian Tetteh Yohunu explained that the exercise aimed to boost public confidence while sending a strong warning to criminals. “We want to assure Ghanaians that we are prepared to protect them throughout this Christmas and beyond,” he said. “It also sends a clear message to criminals that it will be difficult for them to operate, especially during this period.”
Chief of Defence Staff Lt. General William Agyapong echoed the military’s commitment, emphasizing that the festive season demands increased vigilance from security personnel. “This is the time we need to elevate our efforts more than ever,” he said. “We aim to maintain a strong deterrent posture and remain alert for any eventuality.”
The joint security deployment is part of the national holiday security strategy, which includes intensified patrols, rapid response teams, and an increased presence in public spaces to ensure citizens can celebrate the season safely.
