Police in Yeji, located in the Bono East Region, have arrested a man identified as Hans Osei, popularly known as Mulla, for allegedly operating as a medical doctor without any formal training for over 11 years.
According to a report by Adom News’ Daniel Tachie, Mulla was arrested on Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Yeji Zongo, where he had been quietly running an unlicensed medical operation.
Investigations revealed that he had converted a rented, dilapidated chamber-and-hall apartment into a makeshift clinic equipped with three beds.
Local residents shared that Mulla was once known as a footballer, having played for Yeji Elfs during their time in the Ghana Premier League, before turning to unlicensed medical practice.
Over the past decade, he reportedly administered injections, set up intravenous drips, and provided treatment to unsuspecting patients — only referring them to hospitals when their conditions worsened beyond his capacity.
During police interrogation, Mulla allegedly confessed that he had never received training from any accredited medical institution, but had been offering medical services regardless.
The police have confirmed that investigations are ongoing, and the suspect is expected to be charged with impersonation and unlawful medical practice.
