Dzindziso JHS closed after ritualistic attack

Teaching and learning at Dzindziso D/A Junior High School (JHS) have been suspended indefinitely following a deliberate and alarming attack on the school premises.

On the morning of November 26, 2025, unknown perpetrators placed human excreta (faeces) and ritualistic cola nuts at the entrances of all three classrooms, causing panic and serious health concerns among students and staff. The placement of these materials effectively blocked entry, making it impossible for anyone to access the classrooms safely.

A formal report to the Kadjebi District Director of Education revealed that parcels of faeces, wrapped in polythene bags, were positioned in front of the Form One, Form Two, and Form Three classrooms. Each parcel was surrounded by cola nuts, often associated with traditional oaths or rituals.

For the safety of learners and staff, school authorities quickly contacted the Assemblyman for the Dzindziso Electoral Area and the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) Chairman. Following their assessment, students were sent home, and the incident was reported to the relevant security agencies.

Mr. Lukman Hamza, the Assemblyman, described the act as “shocking and troubling” and confirmed that investigations were launched to identify those responsible and determine their motives.

The Kadjebi District Director of Education, Mr. Seth Seyram Deh, confirmed the school’s closure and stated it would remain in effect until the environment is safe for learning to resume. He also revealed that this attack is not isolated, raising concerns that the disruptions could be part of an organized effort to force the permanent closure of the school.

An anonymous staff member told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that repeated disruptions threaten the academic future of children and highlight issues in local governance and community cohesion.

Mr. Deh indicated that he and the Kadjebi District Chief Executive (DCE) would soon meet with community members to implement measures to prevent similar incidents in the future. Community members have expressed deep concern and are urging swift action to safeguard the school and protect the children.

Authorities have assured the public that the matter is being treated with urgency to restore a safe educational environment and apprehend those seeking to undermine public education in the district.
