A coordinated operation by the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) and the Ghana Police Service has resulted in the arrest of 65 individuals connected to cybercrime and online fraud across various parts of the country.

The arrests, conducted between May and July 2025, involved 47 foreign nationals and 18 Ghanaians. Major operations took place in Sogakope, Dodowa, Sassabi Ubuntu Estate, Bortianor-Ngleshie Amanfro, and Teshie-Nungua.

At a joint press conference, CSA Acting Director-General Mr. Divine Selase Agbeti revealed that 23 of the 25 individuals arrested in Dodowa were identified as victims of human trafficking and have since been repatriated.

Similarly, 13 of the 16 suspects arrested in Bortianor are also being processed for repatriation. Investigations are ongoing into 13 foreign nationals and one Ghanaian detained at Teshie-Nungua.

“The Ghanaian suspect from Teshie-Nungua is under investigation and will be prosecuted if found guilty,” Mr. Agbeti stated.

In Sogakope and Sege, suspects — including a ringleader arrested on June 1 — were reportedly impersonating Members of Parliament and government officials to scam victims by promising jobs in the security sector.

Authorities recovered 62 laptops, 41 mobile phones, and Starlink internet equipment during the Dodowa and Amanfro operations, highlighting the organized and tech-driven nature of the criminal networks.

“These actions are part of a larger nationwide strategy to tackle cybercrime, human trafficking, and related threats to national security and the digital space,” Mr. Agbeti emphasized.

He noted that CSA and the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) are intensifying intelligence-led operations, prioritizing international cooperation, victim support, and legal action against offenders.

He also encouraged the public to report suspicious cyber activities through CSA’s 24-hour reporting channels.

Commissioner of Police Lydia Yaako Donkor, Director-General of CID, also provided updates on other ongoing investigations, including a murder case involving an immigration officer, a car robbery ring, and an attack on a taxi driver in Madina.
