Cardi B is expecting a baby with her boyfriend, New England Patriots wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
The Grammy-winning rapper shared the news during an interview on CBS Mornings with Gayle King on Wednesday (Sept. 17). The announcement comes just before the release of her highly anticipated sophomore album Am I the Drama? (dropping Friday, Sept. 19) and her upcoming Little Miss Drama tour, which kicks off in February.
“Yes, I’m pregnant,” Cardi, 32, said with a beaming smile. “I’m having a baby with my boyfriend, Stefon Diggs. I feel strong, powerful, and in a good space. I’m doing all this work while creating life, and we’re really supportive of each other.”
Cardi, already a mother of three with ex-husband Offset, said she and Diggs, 31, are both pushing boundaries in their respective careers. “We’re both great at what we do, but we’re always asking, ‘What’s next?’ We don’t settle.”
Speaking about the emotional rollercoaster of preparing for her album release, Cardi opened up about a recent panic attack. “I was crying non-stop. People can be so cruel — and this is my art, something I poured love and time into. It hurts when people tear it down.”
Despite the pressure, she credited Diggs for being a strong source of emotional and physical support. “He makes me feel very safe and confident,” she said. “Physically — you see how big he is — but also emotionally.”
When asked about the song “Safe” from the new album, she confirmed it was inspired by the way Diggs makes her feel — protected and empowered.
In a more playful moment, Cardi addressed those who’ve been speculating about her personal life. “Y’all wanted to know, right? Now you know! Now go buy my album so I can buy diapers and Pampers — I’m a mother of four now,” she joked with her signature sass.
On a serious note, Cardi explained why she kept the pregnancy private until now. “I wasn’t hiding it. I just wanted to finalize some deals first. Most pregnant women want to see a few sonograms and make sure everything’s okay before going public.”
She even admitted she hadn’t told her parents yet at the time of the interview — joking, “I’m scared of them,” but added she’s relieved they like Diggs, who also has a young daughter.
