35 file nominations for Ashanti NPP regional executive elections

Nominations have closed for the New Patriotic Party’s Ashanti Regional executive elections, with 35 aspirants reported to have picked and submitted forms for the various positions.

Kwaku Atta Sarpong, a member of the Ashanti Regional NPP Elections Committee, said the nomination process opened on Wednesday, 15 July, and closed on Friday, 17 July 2026.

Of the 35 aspirants, 28 are men and seven are women, according to the committee member.

Contested positions

Two people have filed to contest the Regional Chairman position. Four aspirants are seeking the First Vice Chairman position, while three are contesting to become Second Vice Chairman.

For the secretariat positions, three aspirants have filed for Secretary and four for Deputy Secretary. Three people are also seeking the Treasurer position.

In the organiser portfolio, three aspirants are contesting for Organiser, four for Youth Organiser and four for Nasara Organiser. Three women have filed nominations for Women’s Organiser, while two people are seeking the Communications Officer role.

Next steps

Mr Atta Sarpong said aspirants are expected to undergo vetting on Monday or Tuesday, subject to approval by the elections committee.

The party is expected to hold its Ashanti Regional executive elections on 16 August 2026. The elections will determine the regional officers who will lead the party’s organisational work in the region.
