Prof. Angela Ofori-Atta Breaks Silence on Husband’s Health & OSP Case

Prof. Angela Ofori-Atta, wife of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, has addressed the Ghanaian public following her husband’s recent absence from a scheduled interrogation by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP). Her statement comes amid national scrutiny and the issuance of an Interpol Red Notice for his arrest.

Speaking from the U.S., Prof. Ofori-Atta revealed that her husband recently underwent successful prostate cancer surgery and is under intensive medical care, making travel to Ghana currently impossible. She emphasized that this is not an attempt to evade justice but a genuine medical necessity.

“There is no other home but Ghana,” she affirmed. “He will return once his doctors permit.”

She confirmed that Mr. Ofori-Atta is open to cooperating virtually with the OSP and willing to answer all questions through his legal team until he can physically return. The OSP, however, maintains that his in-person appearance is non-negotiable, as the corruption probe linked to government contracts—including the controversial National Cathedral project—intensifies.

The Special Prosecutor’s Office had issued a warrant for his arrest after he failed to report on June 2. The situation escalated further on June 5 when Interpol issued a Red Notice, enlisting global law enforcement to assist in his possible arrest and extradition.

Prof. Ofori-Atta appealed to Ghanaians for understanding, reiterating her husband’s commitment to accountability and rule of law.
