Today, September 9, 2024, is a pivotal moment in Ghana’s political landscape as two prominent figures, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and former President John Dramani Mahama, submit their presidential nomination papers.

Dr. Bawumia, the NPP’s presidential candidate and current Vice President, will be the first to present his forms at the Electoral Commission’s headquarters.

He will be joined by his running mate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, and other key party members. Following this, he will deliver a public address at the NPP’s national headquarters.

Later, at 2 pm, former President Mahama, the candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), will file his nomination papers with the support of his running mate, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang.

Both candidates are in the midst of a competitive campaign, each promising transformative changes for Ghana.

Dr. Bawumia’s campaign, themed around “possibility,” focuses on continuing the progress of the current administration, highlighting achievements such as free senior high school education and job creation through the Nation Builders Corps (NABCo) program.

Conversely, former President Mahama’s campaign is centered on “change,” with promises to revitalize the economy, generate employment, and enhance education and healthcare systems.

As the candidates officially enter the race, anticipation is high for the upcoming election on December 7, with Ghanaians eager to see which vision for the future will prevail.
