EOCO Detains Kofi Akpaloo in Kumasi

Kofi Akpaloo, the presidential candidate and leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), has reportedly been taken into custody by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), Citi News has confirmed.
Family sources have verified his arrest but stated that the reason for his detention remains unknown. They revealed that Mr. Akpaloo was picked up from his residence in Kumasi, and as of now, his exact location is undisclosed.
EOCO has yet to release an official statement, leaving the circumstances surrounding the arrest unclear.
Mr. Akpaloo, who ran in the 2024 general elections, is a well-known figure in Ghanaian politics. Despite leading a smaller party, he has consistently promoted youth-focused policies and steadily increased his party’s visibility on the national stage.
