3 Dead, 20 Injured in Horrific Accident at Gomoa Okyereko Junction

Three passengers have died on the spot, and 20 others are in critical condition following a tragic accident at the Gomoa Okyereko Junction in the Gomoa East District of the Central Region. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, involving a VW Sprinter Benz Bus with the registration number GW 5477-24 and a Hyundai Grace with registration number GR 5899-22.
An eyewitness, Kweku Atta, spoke to Adom News and recounted the events leading up to the crash. He explained that the Sprinter driver was traveling towards Takoradi, while the Hyundai Grace was heading from Winneba to Kasoa. According to Atta, the Sprinter driver made a wrongful overtaking maneuver, which resulted in a collision with the Hyundai Grace.
The three deceased victims include two male passengers and a female. The 20 other individuals who were critically injured are currently receiving treatment at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital.
In response to the incident, D02 Fredrick Adu-Poku, the Winneba Municipal Fire Service Commander, has urged drivers to avoid unnecessary overtaking as the Christmas festivities approach. He stated that the tragic accident could have been prevented if the driver had exercised more patience.
