No Winning Bonuses for Black Stars

The Communications Director of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Henry Asante Twum, has confirmed that the Black Stars will not receive any winning bonuses for their upcoming international friendlies against Japan and South Korea.

In an interview on Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, Asante Twum clarified that the players will only be given per diems, as the matches are not competitive fixtures.

“There will be no winning bonuses for the Black Stars players in the Japan and South Korea friendlies — only per diems,” he stated.

He further disclosed that the host nations are covering all expenses related to the games.

“These friendlies are fully funded by the host countries — Japan and South Korea,” he added.

The national team is currently in Asia preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. Ghana will face Japan on Friday, November 14, before taking on South Korea on November 18.

Head coach Otto Addo has named a 22-man squad for the tour, with 18 players already in camp in Nagoya and the remaining players expected to arrive later today.

The Black Stars will hold their first training session today, November 12, ahead of their Kirin Cup clash with Japan.
