Manchester City Sign Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan

Manchester City have officially completed the signing of Tijjani Reijnders from AC Milan in a deal worth an initial £46.5 million, with the Dutch midfielder putting pen to paper on a five-year contract.

The 26-year-old becomes Pep Guardiola’s fourth summer signing, joining Rayan Ait-Nouri, Marcus Bettinelli, and Rayan Cherki at the Etihad.

Reijnders arrives in time to be included in City’s squad for the upcoming Club World Cup in the U.S., and he could make his debut against Wydad FC on June 18.

“I’m absolutely thrilled to be joining Manchester City,” said Reijnders. “This is one of the biggest clubs in the world, led by the best coach, with top-class players and world-leading facilities. City’s success under Guardiola has been incredible, and I want to contribute to even more trophies in the years ahead.”

Capped 23 times for the Netherlands, Reijnders was an unused substitute in his national team’s 8-0 win over Malta on Tuesday night.

Last season, he impressed with 15 goals in 54 appearances for AC Milan and was named Serie A’s Midfielder of the Season.

With Kevin De Bruyne leaving the club, Reijnders is expected to bring fresh energy and creativity to City’s midfield as they aim to improve on their third-place finish in the Premier League last season.
