Kim Björkegren denies exit rumours

Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has dismissed rumours suggesting he could leave his post ahead of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

The Swedish tactician recently guided Ghana to a 7-0 aggregate win over Egypt, booking their place at next year’s continental showpiece.

Amid reports linking him to other offers, Björkegren reaffirmed his commitment to Ghana, saying:

“No, I will not leave. To be honest, I had about 14 offers before signing for Ghana. I chose to be here because I believe I can help the girls.”

Expressing confidence in the team’s development, he added:

“Together, we are building something really special, and I’m here to stay with the girls.”

The 2026 WAFCON will double as a qualifier for the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, with the top four teams earning automatic spots.
