The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced plans to organize a testimonial match to honour former Black Stars captain and striker Asamoah Gyan.
The football governing body said the match will celebrate Gyan’s remarkable contributions to Ghanaian football, with additional details to be shared in due course.
Gyan retired in 2023 at the age of 37, after two years of inactivity. He remains Ghana’s all-time top scorer, netting 51 goals in 109 appearances for the Black Stars.
He also holds the distinction of being Africa’s highest goal scorer in FIFA World Cup history, scoring six goals across three tournaments: Germany 2006, South Africa 2010, and Brazil 2014.
At the club level, Gyan began his professional career with Liberty Professionals in Ghana before moving abroad to play for Udinese in Italy. His career also included stints with Modena, Rennes, Sunderland, Al Ain, Al Ahli, Shanghai SIPG, Kayserispor, and he concluded his career at Legon Cities FC in Ghana.
