- Felix Kwakye Ofosu strongly denies any government involvement
Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has firmly rejected claims that the presidency had a hand in coordinating petitions seeking the removal of Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng and Electoral Commission (EC) Chairperson Jean Mensa.
This follows the submission of ten separate petitions by private citizens to the Office of the President, calling for the dismissal of the Special Prosecutor, the EC Chair, and her deputies—Dr. Eric Bossman Asare and Samuel Tettey—over allegations ranging from incompetence and abuse of office to concerns about electoral processes.
Rumours had circulated suggesting that these petitions were orchestrated from within the presidency. But Kwakye Ofosu dismissed the assertions as unfounded.
In an interview with Citi FM, he challenged critics to produce evidence to support their claims.
“As critics, they must be able to prove the cooking and the eating, shouldn’t they?” he remarked.
He stressed that the government has no ties to the petitioners, insisting that the petition process is entirely independent and constitutionally grounded. Kwakye Ofosu added that any committee set up to review the petitions will work without any interference from the executive.
