Wizkid Becomes First African Artist to Reach 10 Billion Spotify Streams

Nigerian singer Ayodeji Balogun, widely known as Wizkid, has made history as the first African artist to surpass 10 billion streams on Spotify. The “Ojuelegba” hitmaker reached the milestone after his cumulative streams across all credits on the platform recently exceeded 10 billion.

His collaborative track with Canadian star Drake and British singer Tyla is his most-streamed song on Spotify, nearing 4 billion streams.

Wizkid’s third studio album, Made In Lagos Deluxe, stands as his most-streamed project on the platform, amassing over a billion streams.

As a lead artist, his song Essence featuring Tems is his top-streamed track, with more than 333 million streams.

In other Spotify news, American singer Billie Eilish’s Birds of a Feather has overtaken Tones and I’s Dance Monkey to become the most-streamed solo song by a female artist in the platform’s history. Birds of a Feather recently hit 3.37 billion streams, surpassing Dance Monkey, which has 3.3 billion.
