Renowned preacher and gospel musician Sonnie Badu has commended dancehall artist Shatta Wale for attracting what he called the largest crowd ever witnessed in Ghana at the ShattaFest 2025 concert held at Black Star Square.
In a social media post on October 20, 2025, Sonnie Badu expressed amazement at the massive turnout, claiming that not even Ghana’s historic Independence Day celebrations under Dr. Kwame Nkrumah drew such a crowd.
“It’s never happened in the history of Ghana, not even on the day of our independence with Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. This is huge. @shattawalenima needs to be studied. We all put money on the ground, feed the streets, and they’ve got your back. Paaa paaa paaa! I believe Ghana is evolving, and soon we will reclaim the centre stage,” he wrote.
On October 18, 2025, tens of thousands of fans gathered at Independence Square for Shatta Wale’s free birthday concert titled “ShattaFest 2025 x Shattabration: The King Calls.”
Fans arrived hours before the 4:00 p.m. start, and by nightfall, the venue and surrounding areas were fully packed.
The event featured performances by top Ghanaian artists including Sarkodie, Samini, Wendy Shay, Medikal, Kelvynboy, Amerado, DarkoVibes, Tinny, JZyNo, Kwame Yogot, and DopeNation. The concert ran late into the night, concluding at approximately 7:05 a.m. on October 19, 2025.
