Charles Nii Armah Mensah, professionally known as Shatta Wale, has filed a GH¢100 million defamation lawsuit against media personality and musician Abubakar Ahmed, popularly called Blakk Rasta, over statements made in a viral video.
According to a statement of claim filed at the High Court in Accra, Shatta Wale is requesting that the court declare as defamatory the remarks made by Blakk Rasta in a video titled “SHATTA WALE, SELF-CONFESSED KING OF FRAUD”, published on December 15, 2025, on Blakk Empire Media’s social media platforms.
Shatta Wale alleges that the video, which garnered widespread attention on Facebook and YouTube within 24 hours, contained false and malicious claims that severely damaged his reputation as a musician and entrepreneur.
In the video, Blakk Rasta reportedly referred to Shatta Wale as a “king of fraud,” a “thief,” and a “sakawa boy,” accusing him of associating with alleged fraudsters and allowing stolen funds to pass through his bank accounts. Shatta Wale claims these statements were intended to portray him as dishonest, morally corrupt, and untrustworthy to the public.
The lawsuit also states that the video has caused emotional distress to his family, fans, business partners, and colleagues, while subjecting him to public ridicule and reputational harm.
Shatta Wale is seeking several remedies, including:
- Immediate and permanent removal of the video and all related content from Blakk Rasta’s social media platforms.
- An injunction preventing the defendant from making further defamatory statements.
- A public retraction and unqualified apology on Blakk Rasta’s social media pages.
- Full-page apologies in the Daily Graphic, Ghanaian Times, and Graphic ShowBiz newspapers.
Filed by the Robert Smith Law Group and signed by lawyer Bobby Banson, the lawsuit emphasizes that Blakk Rasta is unlikely to issue a retraction or apology without a court order.
The case is scheduled to be heard at the High Court in Accra.
