Ghanaian Afrofusion artist McDonald Adotey Braide, popularly known as Kojo Blak, has shared that he dropped out of two universities to fully dedicate himself to his music career.
He explained that this decision was a pivotal moment early in his musical journey, driven by a belief that music would eventually lead him to success.
In an interview on Asempa FM’s Showbiz Review, hosted by Adu Kumi, Kojo Blak opened up about his decision, revealing that although his father didn’t support it, he was certain that music was his true calling.
“I was studying science, but I left both the University of Ghana (Legon) and UPSA. It wasn’t due to financial reasons; I just knew music was my path,” he shared.
Kojo Blak draws inspiration from highlife icons such as E.T. Mensah, OSIBISA, Nana Ampadu, and Daddy Lumba. He also credits his childhood idols, including Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, and the Fugees, for shaping his artistic vision. Through his music, he tells stories of struggle, love, heartbreak, vulnerability, and resilience, drawing on his personal experiences and those of his community.
