Diana Hamilton Shares Fashion Brand Origin Story

- Diana credits her sister Adelaide as the business force behind the brand
Award-winning gospel artist Diana Hamilton has shared the inspiring story behind the launch of her thriving fashion brand, DH by DH, crediting her sister Adelaide for encouraging her to turn her sense of style into a business.

In an interview on The Career Trail on Joy Learning TV and Joy News, Diana recalled how her outfits during performances frequently caught the attention of fans.
“While I’d be on stage singing, people would ask, ‘Where did you get that dress?’ And I’d tell them I designed it and had it made. It kept happening,” she said.
What began as admiration soon became an opportunity, thanks to Adelaide’s business insight. “One day, my sister—who’s the brains behind my business ventures—said, ‘Aunty, we need to start selling these clothes.’ I thought she was joking, but she went ahead and created a Facebook page called Diana Hamilton Fashion. For years, we weren’t selling anything; if someone asked, I’d make a dress for them.”
The brand truly took shape during the COVID-19 pandemic, when the shift to online platforms created new opportunities.
“When COVID hit and everything moved online, Adelaide said, ‘This is the time. Let’s open an online store—we don’t need a physical shop.’ And that’s how DH by DH was born,” Diana revealed.
Looking back, she sees the journey as part of a divine plan.
“When God gives you a mission, He sends help. Adelaide has been my rock. We’ve done several collections, and they’ve sold really well,” she said.

Initially, their designs were displayed in a traditional rack-style format, but as the brand grew, it evolved into a more tailored, customer-focused model.
“Fashion has become very refined. Now, we mainly work on custom orders,” she explained.
Diana also emphasized the brand’s unique appeal, catering to clients often overlooked by mainstream fashion.
“Our customers don’t always have standard European body types. So we design with real African women in mind—blending African and European styles into something truly special.”
Every DH by DH outfit, she said, is created to express individuality.
“When you wear DH by DH, you wear confidence. No two pieces are exactly alike.”
From the gospel stage to the fashion world, Diana Hamilton’s journey is a testament to vision, faith, and the unwavering support of a sister who believed in her before the brand even existed.
