Davido Says Passion, Not Money, Fuels His Music Career

Afrobeats star Davido has shared insight into what continues to motivate him in his music journey, revealing that financial gain is no longer his driving force.

In a now-viral video, the 32-year-old singer, born David Adeleke, spoke candidly about the inner strength and determination that push him to keep creating.

“I’m thankful to myself for being hardworking,” he said. “The mental strength it takes to keep going in this industry—especially when the odds are stacked against you—is no joke.”

He emphasized that his love for music is what keeps him going, not the pursuit of wealth.
“It’s not about the money. I have billions waiting for me even if I never work another day. I just love what I do. That’s what drives me,” he said.

Davido rose to fame in 2012 with his breakout single Dami Duro from his debut album Omo Baba Olowo, and has since become one of Africa’s most influential music icons.
