Uncle Ebo Whyte Reveals Career Setback

Celebrated Ghanaian playwright and marriage counselor, James Ebo Whyte, popularly known as Uncle Ebo Whyte, has shared a little-known chapter of his life—his unexpected job loss and a difficult period of over a year without employment.

In the upcoming 12th episode of The Career Trail, airing on Joy Learning TV and Joy News, Uncle Ebo recounts how his once-promising career took a dramatic and painful turn after being dismissed from his second job.

“After working with the company for four to five years, they fired me. I ended up staying home for a year and a half,” he revealed.

Even more shocking, he said the company listed eight serious charges against him—allegations he says severely tarnished his image.

“If you heard the charges, you wouldn’t want to associate with me. They made me look like the worst rogue ever,” he shared with visible emotion.

His journey, however, began with hope. After graduating from the University of Ghana, Legon, he completed his National Service at Asempa Publishers under Rev. Peter Parker, a former British soldier and Presbyterian minister.

“I was fortunate. I had a great boss, Rev. Peter Parker. That’s where I did my National Service and got retained. That’s where my working life began,” he recalled.

He spent six years at Asempa Publishers before moving to another publishing firm, where his abrupt termination marked a period of personal crisis and uncertainty. The 18 months that followed were filled with rejection, self-doubt, and a sense of lost identity.

In this revealing episode, Uncle Ebo reflects on:

The Career Trail, a platform for sharing real stories from accomplished Ghanaian entrepreneurs and professionals, aims to empower and guide the next generation of young dreamers.
