“If I Get Married, It Won’t Be About the Wedding Size, But Mutual Agreement” – Nancy Isime

Story Highlights
  • Nancy Isime values financial independence over marriage
  • She spends on herself to avoid dependence on others
  • Humble upbringing shaped her self-sufficiency mindset

Nigerian actress and media personality Nancy Isime opened up about her unconventional views on marriage and the importance of financial independence, in a recent interview. Unlike many young women who dream of their wedding day, Isime revealed that her childhood aspirations focused on working, earning her own money, and achieving self-sufficiency.

Growing up in a modest household where asking for financial assistance was discouraged, Isime developed a strong desire for independence. This upbringing has shaped her views on relationships and the significance of being financially secure.

“That’s why I’m such a believer in spending on myself; I spend on myself so much that nobody can take the position of ‘if not me, you won’t have this life,'” Isime stated.

When asked about her views on marriage, Isime emphasized that the decision to get married would be based on mutual agreement, rather than the size and scale of the wedding celebration. “I’ve always been that child that always saw myself having my own money. Maybe because I came from a humble background where asking for anything was almost taboo. You’re supposed to know that there is no money, so don’t ask but if we give you, take. I used to be like, ‘I can’t wait to have my own money and do my own thing.'”

Isime has built a successful career in the Nigerian entertainment industry, gaining recognition after winning the Miss Valentine International Beauty Pageant in 2009. She made her acting debut in 2011 with the TV series Echoes and has since starred in several notable Nollywood films, including Kambili: The Whole 30 Yards, The Set Up 2, and Shanty Town. In addition to acting, Isime is also a well-known TV presenter and has received numerous awards for her contributions to the industry.
