Ebo Whyte Slams Prophecy Review Directive

Renowned playwright Ebo Whyte has taken issue with the government’s directive requiring prophecies of national interest to be submitted for review. The move comes in the wake of a tragic military helicopter crash that claimed eight lives, including two government ministers.

Speaking on JoyFM’s Super Morning Show on Monday, August 18, during his regular “Food For Thought” segment, Uncle Ebo described the directive as spiritually misguided and biblically unsound, arguing that it fails to address the true nature of divine revelations.

“God reveals to redeem, not to destroy,” he said, stressing that the responsibility to prevent calamity lies with the recipients of a prophecy, not the prophet. He added, “If a prophecy is truly from God, we don’t need to go back to the same prophet to find mercy. If a prophet claims only he can act on the message, then we have reason to question its source.”

Instead of institutionalising prophecy vetting, Mr. Whyte advised the President and his team to focus on spiritual intercession.

“There are committed Christians within this government, including the President. They should form a prayer cell and intercede for the nation, their duties, and their families. That would be far more effective than asking prophets to submit their prophecies for official review,” he recommended.

He also warned that formalising a prophecy review process could open the door to abuse and manipulation by opportunistic religious figures.

“When leaders go to prophets and believe only they can reverse a prophecy, it elevates those individuals. Others see the benefits and begin fabricating prophecies for attention and reward,” he cautioned.

Referencing biblical stories from 2 Kings 20 and the life of Job, Mr. Whyte concluded by urging national leaders to prioritise prayer and spiritual discernment over bureaucratising divine messages.
