Agya Koo vs. LilWin: Who Will Be The Real Kumawood King

Story Highlights
  • LilWin sparks controversy by calling himself the undisputed King of Kumawood
  • He claims Agya Koo is no longer relevant, doing podcasts and funeral shows
  • Agya Koo responds, defending his legacy and warning LilWin

A growing rivalry has erupted between two of Ghana’s most iconic comic actors—Agya Koo and Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin—over who truly deserves the title “King of Kumawood.” Verbal jabs have been exchanged, fueling a heated debate within the local film industry.

The drama began when LilWin casually proclaimed himself the undisputed king of Ghana’s movie scene, a statement widely interpreted as a dig at Agya Koo, who is credited with leading Kumawood during its peak years.

During an interview on Nhyira FM, LilWin reinforced his stance, dismissing Agya Koo’s relevance in today’s industry. He accused the veteran actor of fading into obscurity, claiming he now spends his time doing podcasts and performing at funerals.

“Agya Koo is riding on past glory,” LilWin stated. “He no longer represents what Kumawood is today.”

Agya Koo, however, fired back on social media, defending his legacy and rejecting LilWin’s claims. In a pointed tweet, he reminded his rival of his trailblazing influence:

“I’ve moved on to live band performances and enjoying it. You’re also making music, and I’m proud to have inspired others. But don’t mistake loudness for greatness. In my prime, Nigerian movies were rejected, yet my films reigned supreme. You’re seeking fame in Nigeria and calling yourself king? Keep striving, but stay grounded, Actor Kwame.”

What started as playful banter has quickly escalated into a full-blown feud, with fans of both stars taking sides in what is shaping up to be one of the most intense celebrity rivalries in Ghana’s entertainment industry.
