VP Opoku-Agyemang Receives Cape Coast Assembly to Discuss Development Plans

Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has revealed that she received a delegation from the Cape Coast Metropolitan Assembly, led by Metropolitan Chief Executive George Arthur, to discuss plans for the development of the Cape Coast Metropolis.

In a post on her social media page, the Vice President noted that the delegation—which included the Members of Parliament for Cape Coast North and Cape Coast South—paid a New Year courtesy call, extending their goodwill and expressing hope for strength and clarity as the government continues its efforts to reset the nation.

According to Professor Opoku-Agyemang, the delegation presented an eight-year development plan for the metropolis. Major elements of the plan include the refurbishment and eventual operation of the late President Evans Atta Mills Library, as well as the rehabilitation of the Cape Coast Metropolitan Hospital.

She added that discussions also focused on how government support could help make Cape Coast more vibrant and economically sustainable, alongside local fundraising initiatives to advance development efforts within the metropolis.

The Vice President encouraged the Assembly to involve residents in decision-making processes to foster ownership of development projects and strengthen public commitment to change. She also emphasized that metropolitan development should align with the broader national development agenda.
