President John Mahama has announced that Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang is set to return to Ghana soon, having fully recovered from a recent illness.
Speaking during his ‘Thank You Tour’ in Dodowa, Greater Accra Region, on Friday, May 16, President Mahama expressed his relief and appreciation for the Vice President’s restored health and confirmed that she is ready to resume her official duties.
“I’m glad to share that I spoke with her yesterday morning, and she’ll be back in the country before the end of next week. By God’s grace, she has fully recovered and is prepared to return to her responsibilities,” he said.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang reportedly fell ill on Friday, March 28, 2025, and sought medical care at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) the next day. On medical advice, she began a three-week leave starting April 7, 2025, and traveled abroad for further treatment to ensure a complete recovery.
Her return is expected to inject fresh energy into government operations as she resumes her role after a period of rest and medical care.
