Two Arrested for Robbery and Murder of Woman in Ashanti Region

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested two individuals in connection with the robbery and murder of 28-year-old Silver Ngozi in Asokore Mampong, Ashanti Region.
The arrests were announced on Monday, December 15, 2025, during a media briefing by the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Arthur Osei Akoto, on recent security operations in the region.
According to the police, the incident occurred on December 6, 2025, around 5:00 pm, when the victim was allegedly attacked and robbed by the suspects. During the robbery, one of the suspects reportedly stabbed her with a knife, resulting in her death.
Following intelligence-led operations, a joint team from the Regional Police Headquarters and the Kumasi Anti-Robbery Unit arrested the suspects on December 12, 2025, around 9:00 pm at their hideout in Aboabo, Kumasi.
The suspects have been identified as Farouk Iddris, 20, a motorbike mechanic and rider, and Salim Mohammed, 19, a motorbike mechanic and rickshaw rider.
A search of Farouk Iddris’ room led to the recovery of a machete, knives, and other offensive weapons.
During interrogation, both suspects admitted to committing the robbery. Salim Mohammed, who was the pillion rider at the time of the incident, identified a zigzag-edged knife as the weapon he used to stab the victim. Police also recovered an iPhone 11 Pro belonging to the deceased, stolen during the robbery. Both the knife and the phone have been retained as evidence.
The suspects remain in police custody, assisting with investigations, and will be brought before court to face charges.
